the quotidian (8.17.20)

Quotidian: daily, usual or customary;
everyday; ordinary; commonplace

Tomato tart: the search continues.

Heirloom.

First tomatoes, now peaches.
Peach tart with almond cream.

Eggplant bread!!! (with zucchini, walnuts, and dates)

Eggplant-pressed tofu.

Raggedy knee pads.

Lit yolk.

Monopoly and music: the deck at dusk.

This same time, years previous: a bloody tale, passion fruit juice, the Peru post, a new room, the quotidian (8.17.15), the quotidian (8.18.14), from market to table, the beach, lately, our life, barley and beans with sausage and red wine.

Here's one from a blogger (Spice and Sass)–no longer posting–that's I've made every August:
But it's completely basic. You've probably done this for decades, but it was my first foray into tomato tarts 🙂

    8 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded
    2 TBSP chopped basil
4.5 ripe tomatoes, in 1/2 inch slices
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp pepper
    1 TBSP EVOO

Preheat oven to 400. Line 10" loose- bottom tart pan with pastry dough. Spread bottom of pastry with cheese and sprinkle with basil. Cover with tomato slices, arranging to cover as evenly as possible. Sprinkle tomatoes with salt and pepper and drizzle with olive oil. Bake
30-40 minutes. Garnish with fresh basil and cut into wedges.
