the quotidian (3.18.19)

Quotidian: daily, usual or customary;
everyday; ordinary; commonplace

Same quantity of dough + two baking methods = noticeable difference in loft.

While listening to Don’t Fear Math: Ice cream and Monopoly.
When I said “train the dog,” I did not mean “to sit on the table.”
She’s home!
Why I keep running out of clothespins.
Proud.

FAFSA fun.
She opens the door and then waits: Maybe, just maybe…..

This same time, years previous: good writing, wear a helmet!, a good reminder, the creative norm, bolt popcorn, from my diary, all by himself, blondies.

    Hello Jennifer – I've been following your blog for awhile now and love your recipes and the stories about your family. Your bread above looks wonderful. If you wouldn't mind, I have a few questions. What type of bread is it and is the recipe currently on your blog? And what did you do to get the bread on the left side of the photo to rise higher? By the way, your photos are beautiful.

      Hi Carolyn! The bread in the photo is my standard sourdough recipe: https://bit.ly/2ClyMyj

      The bread seems to get a better rise when it's lidded for the first 20 minutes of baking — probably something to do with steam. I remove the lid for the second half so it can get nice and brown.

      If you click on the recipe index at the top of my website and then scroll down to "Breads, Sourdough," you'll find other sourdough recipes as well.

      Thanks for reading!

    Wait, is that a no knead dough? I have questions about that bread.

    I'm hoping my dog doesn't get any ideas from this post.

      Nope, my regular sourdough, but I baked it in a Dutch oven like you do the five-minute, no-knead bread. SO nice and crusty.
