They say US folks consume 6.5# of butter/year: anyone else think that’s absurdly low?

This same time, years previous: one drunk pig, banoffee pie, ricotta pancakes, I need new slippers – help!, launching, the quotidian (1.27.20), overnight baked oatmeal, vindication, women’s march on washington, through my lens: a wedding, the quotidian (1.27.14), and then we moved into a barn.

First time commenter, long time reader! I have never heard of a King Cake (and agree it’s unusual for you to have failures!) so I did a little research and I’m happy to have found not only the perfect recipe (or so the author and 150 or so commenters claim!) but also some history about the cake: https://murmursofricotta.com/king-cake/

Thank you for the link! (And see my response to Karen’s comment for more info…)

The King Cake is very pretty. Did you make a yeast dough? They are really more like a coffee cake dough with egregiously heavy powdered sugar icing and colored sugar sprinkles and the ubiquitous baby hidden inside. Mostly, I don’t like them because it’s just too too much sugar in the icing.

With all the delicious food that you make, I get sad when you post about something that didn’t turn out as expected. Onward!

Yes, it was a yeast dough, a King Arthur recipe. I actually like the recipe (and I made it for the bakery where I work — and people seemed to love it), but it was the bundt pan part that was the failure. Thank you for the links, though. I’ll look into them!
