Same quantity of dough + two baking methods = noticeable difference in loft.

When I said “train the dog,” I did not mean “to sit on the table.”

Gosh and golly gee. I think the dog has trained the kids admirably.

Ugh…..the FAFSA. Perhaps the best thing about having grown children is never again.

Hello Jennifer – I've been following your blog for awhile now and love your recipes and the stories about your family. Your bread above looks wonderful. If you wouldn't mind, I have a few questions. What type of bread is it and is the recipe currently on your blog? And what did you do to get the bread on the left side of the photo to rise higher? By the way, your photos are beautiful.
Jennifer Jo
Hi Carolyn! The bread in the photo is my standard sourdough recipe: https://bit.ly/2ClyMyj
The bread seems to get a better rise when it's lidded for the first 20 minutes of baking — probably something to do with steam. I remove the lid for the second half so it can get nice and brown.
If you click on the recipe index at the top of my website and then scroll down to "Breads, Sourdough," you'll find other sourdough recipes as well.
Thanks for reading!
Becky
Wait, is that a no knead dough? I have questions about that bread.
I'm hoping my dog doesn't get any ideas from this post.
Jennifer Jo
Nope, my regular sourdough, but I baked it in a Dutch oven like you do the five-minute, no-knead bread. SO nice and crusty.
